From the dawn of humanity, technology has been a window into the societies, cultures, and individuals who use it. With the explosion of technology in the 21st century, it has become possible to peer ever deeper into aspects of human life, from sensing the electrical and chemical signals of our own bodies, to monitoring the air we breathe and water we drink, to tracing how individual and cultural representations of knowledge change over time through social media. Since finishing his Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Sean has been exploring technology as a lens by which to understand how our bodies, minds and behaviors relate to the physical and metaphysical world. Sean will discuss his interactive installation work and invite viewers to consider technology as a metaphor for understanding our own biological and cultural existence, and how it is likely to change as we head into the next century and beyond.
