Experiments in Art and Digital Technologies Exhibition
Margie Hughto, the internationally renowned ceramic and mixed media artist, highly respected for her large public art works, is making use of the oldest art making techniques on view. Hughto’s pieces are created from a multitude of unique ceramic elements, each glazed and fired separately and then collaged with copper glazed crystals, glass and found objects. Her imagery is often developed through a process of molding clay in plaster casts of objects from nature and artifacts of human activity. Her current archeologically themed pieces include fossilized circuit boards and other computer detritus. Hughto will be exhibiting a series of wall sculptures from her Excavation Series as well as two installation works entitled The Collection and The Dig, an interactive artwork to be shown at special events on two successive weekends.
